Youth & Young People
Every Wednesday morning during school term, we serve breakfast at Mt Stromlo High School to hungry students. Making toasted sandwiches, offering a glass of milk and friendly smile is all part of our desire to make a difference in our local community. We have been running Breakfast Club for 10 years and now have about 80-100+ students for breakfast on Wednesday’s. For some students it is the highlight of their week.
Breakfast Club is run in partnership with Chaplaincy ACT.
Wednesdays 8:00am – 9:00am
Valley Youth strive to create a fun and enjoyable environment in which young people can explore and grow their relationship with Jesus. It is a safe place to connect with other young people and leaders, be supported as they journey through life and grow in spiritual maturity.
Valley Youth is for young people from high school year 7 to college year 12. They meet on Friday nights weekly during school terms in the main church building.
Friday 7pm - 9pm
We have a small team of mentors helping students at Mt Stromlo High School as part of our focus on connecting with our local community. These mentors give up one or two hours of their time a week to help students who need extra learning support. In most cases the mentors will come alongside a student for one year to build a relationship with them and help them with their schooling. This is done in the school during school hours and is often held after Breakfast Club on a Wednesday, although other times are also allocated to suit the mentor’s availability.
The Go Program is a one hour weekly program on a Wednesday, lead by Nathan, along with Jordan and Alan at Mount Stromlo High school. The groups purpose is to role model godly character, build healthy relationships, foster character building, and future teamwork for young boys of high school age through sports and regular time meeting together.
